Saving Lives and Restoring Hope

We Are the Name We Carry

Saving America's Horse is an internationally recognized lifesaving mission under the Wild For Life Foundation. We are an international consortium of veterinarians, equestrian professionals, equine welfare experts, researchers, horse advocates, scientists, film and television artists, and concerned citizens working in concert to promote wild horse preservation initiatives with a focus on the prevention of equine cruelty and ending the slaughter of America's horses. The Initiative supports comprehensive and science based solution oriented models that lead to systemic change, reduce suffering, and cultivate a more compassionate society. WFLF's wild horse preservation component also serves as an educational platform for the protection of wildlife.

Now in our 10th year, the Wild for Life Foundation has a well established track record of compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Our Board of Directors consists of 100% volunteers who contribute their time, money and resources to benefit the Mission of the Wild for Life Foundation. Consistent with best practices in nonprofit governance, WFLF achieves a balance in leadership through an active Board of Directors and dedicated staff who are led by our volunteer Executive Director.

We vigorously work to save, protect and preserve abused, neglected, displaced and slaughter bound wild and domestic equines, and educate to raise compassion and improve the standards of protection for America’s equine populations as a whole.

WFLF implements high standards and best practices in all horse care which ties directly to our rescue and sanctuary success. WFLF adheres to stringent Standards of Care Policies and conducts its operations to meet the Nation’s highest standards and horse care guidelines.

We are dedicated to wild horse preservation and the prevention of equine cruelty through elevating lifesaving stewardship and the healing hearts of horses. We strive to inspire the public to take a more active role in protecting and caring for wild and domestic horses. Through humane education, we deliver a broad and balanced reflection of compassionate and compelling prevention and preservation ethics—ways that illuminate how letting go of the old can lead to paths of healing and harmonious coexistence.

We protect the lives of wild equines as part of the natural ecosystem and educate people about the need for their preservation in the wild. The WFLF promotes the conservation of wild horses on their Native lands and the preservation of natural ecosystems and wildlife. WFLF staff work to educate the public about more appropriate and respectful relationships with nature, domestic animals and wildlife. Through direct animal care, enrichment education and advocacy WFLF fulfills its commitment to the protection of animals and wildlife and ethical, sustainable relationships between humans and the natural world.
