Don't be duped by the clever and misleading BLM propaganda. Selling the animals ‘without limitation’ or under sale authority effectively strips their protection from abuse and slaughter.

Video Alert Menu - Facts that refute BLM Myths

ALERT # 1 BLM Withholds Water From Horses
The BLM has told the public that wild horses and burros are starving and dying of dehydration out on the range, and they use this misinformation to justify their removal and killing. In truth numerous America's wild horses have died because the BLM has blocked their access to water on public lands. HELP STOP THE KILLING!
ALERT #2 WILD HORSES AND BURROS ACT
The BLM claims to care and protect our wild horses and burros on the range and in captivity, by touting the laws which are supposed to keep them safe from cruelty, harassment and death. In truth America's horses and burros need protection from the BLM. The mislabeling and eradication of wild horses and burros on America’s public rangelands is a clear demonstration of BLM's support for the competing economic value of commercial livestock and the BLM's defiance of their mandate to protect wild horses and burros.
ALERT # 3: BLM HORSES AND BURROS GO TO SLAUGHTER
This alert features Grand Jury evidence, GAO and Congressional reports that reveal the illegal and fraudulent trafficking of wild horses by the BLM for the purpose of slaughter, narrated by Golden Globe Award Winner Ken Wahl.

ALERT # 4: Chief Arvol Looking Horse Prayer for America's Horses and Burros

This alert features Chief Arvol Looking Horse, of the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota Nations, who speaks out in prayer for the protection of America's horses and burros, as presented in the opening of the documentary film, Saving America's Horses: A Nation Betrayed.
ALERT # 5: THE ONGOING GENOCIDE
This alert features Chief Arvol Looking Horse, of the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota Nations, who speaks out about the ongoing genocide, as presented in the documentary film, Saving America's Horses: A Nation Betrayed.
ALERT # 6: Wild Horses ARE NATIVE to North America
This alert refutes the BLM myth that wild horses are purportedly not native to North America; The Bureau of land Management (BLM) and other commercial livestock interests don’t want people to know that the genus EQUUS, the HORSE is a NATIVE American species and that this species is EXCLUSIVELY NATIVE to the American continent. Many people don’t even realize that the genus EQUUS, today’s horses and burros are GENETICALLY THE SAME as those that lived in the U.S. before their so-called extinction.
ALERT # 7: The Removal of Wild Horses and Burros from the Wild
This alert refutes the BLM myth that wild horses are purportedly not being removed to benefit the livestock industry

Background:

Dec 18, 2017, The Senate supports protection for America's horses and burros, however, the House has been unsupportive. Until this type of division can be resolved and a meeting of the minds for the good of humanity can move forward, the future of our horses, our people and our land will remain in jeopardy.

We ask the people of America our leaders to stand strong with the horses and protect them. We cannot allow the dangerous and violent expulsion of America’s horses and burros from our lands.

Nov 20, 2017 UPDATE on FY 2018 Interior Appropriations Bill: The SENATE has voted in favor of its bill to maintain existing protections for wild horses and burros (unlike the House version). The final vote which will determine the result will take place through a Conference Committee consisting of members from both the House and the Senate - the meeting has yet to be scheduled.

Wild For Life Foundation and Saving America’s Horses commends the Senate Appropriations Committee for voting in support of PROTECTING America’s wild horses and burros from killing by the Bureau of Land Management. although it's not over, this is a HUGE WIN for America's horses and burros.

45000 WILD HORSES:

On Sept 9, 2016 the BLM Advisory Board voted to recommend EXTERMINATING 46,000 innocent wild American horses and burros who have been brutally rounded up and are currently held wrongly under encampment.

In May of 2017 the United States, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) released their 2018 “BUDGET JUSTIFICATIONS” with a call for approval of proposed provisions that if passed would strip protections and effectively allow the BLM to shoot and kill wild horses and burros and sell wild horses and burros for slaughter.

In July 2017, the HOUSE Appropriations Committee voted to adopt an amendment to its version of the Interior Appropriations bill that removed protective language for wild horses. If a bill is signed into law without protective language the door would be open to the mass killing of wild horses and burros, beginning with 46,000 wild horses and burros currently held in government corrals and pastures.

On July 20, 2017 – The SENATE Appropriations Committee approved the Udall-Graham Amendment, introduced by Sens. Tom Udall (D-NM) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) which includes defunding language to prohibit U.S. Department of Agriculture from hiring horse meat inspectors in the U.S. This in turn prevents horse slaughter plants from being re-opened in the U.S. in 2018. The Amendment was passed in the full committee by a bipartisan vote and will effectively continue a ban on the gruesome horse slaughter industry on U.S. soil.

Protection is however still needed for America's horses from the exportation across federal borders where they continue to face gruesome slaughter every day. The Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act was announced on Friday, Aug 4, 2017 by US Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), and Susan Collins (R-Maine). Its purpose is to forbid slaughter on American soil and ban any related interstate or foreign commercial activity, such as the export of horse meat or the transport of live horses to slaughterhouses in other countries. The bill must pass the house and senate before it can become a law. Learn more about anti slaughter legislation here go

Oct. 15, 2017: The National Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board met Oct. 18-19 in Grand Junction, Colorado — this was the board’s first meeting since recommending that the BLM be allowed to shoot and kill wild horses and burros or sell them for slaughter.
The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee was scheduled to vote on the bill regarding the funding for the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse & Burro Program on Oct. 19th, but the vote was delayed.

Dec 18, 2017, The House and Senate are scheduled to meet prior to holiday recess on Dec 22, 2017. We are hopeful that they will vote to uphold protections for America's wild horses from killing and or sale for slaughter

By raising awareness and educating the public about the importance of protecting these animals, we can win for the horses.

FACTS YOU CAN USE TO HELP AMERICA'S WILD HORSES & BURROS

Substantial evidence confirms that horses never totally died out in America although horses and burros were previously thought to have disappeared from the continent roughly 10,000 years ago. In truth, a surmounting body of evidence shows that the Equus species survived the ice age in America, and the evidence of their continued presence has become too substantial to dismiss.

Incontrovertible and indisputable fossil records and molecular biology evidence confirms that today’s Genus Equus (HORSES, BURROS and ZEBRAS) in fact originated and co-evolved with the habitat of North America.

Recognition of wild horses’ and burros’ rightful NATIVE status in the U.S. as WILDLIFE would yield protection for them under the law and likely force a new category for management considerations.

Modern day horses and burros – both wild and domestic are in fact indigenous to North America. Indisputable Mitochondrial-DNA analysis evidence confirms that modern horse, E. Caballus is genetically the same species which was reintroduced in 1519 by the Spaniards. (Source: Jay F. Kirkpatrick and Patricia M. Fazio, Natural History magazine, May 2008) Genus Equus, otherwise known as the modern day horse, donkey (ass) and zebra are the only survivors of the previously diverse family of 27 genera. Well established Paleontological evidence shows that Equus Lambei , otherwise known as the Yukon Horse is the most recent Genus Equus in North America prior to extinction and no evidence exists for the origin of E. Caballus anywhere, except North America. (Learn more >>)

The mislabeling and eradication of wild horses and burros on America’s public rangelands is a demonstration of ‘special interests’ and ‘government agency’ support for the competing economic value of commercial livestock and reveals certain agency defiance of their mandate to protect wild horses and burros, a native wild species known to have no economic value. BACKGROUND:

When public outcry against the recommended killing of 45,000 wild American horses and burros reached mainstream level it caught the attention of some of the most powerful mainstream media outlets. The combination of these factors brought increased exposure to the systemic mistreatment and reckless mismanagement of the wild horses and our public lands. This in turn caused a detrimental backlash of criticism against the government and the BLM.

A flurry of subsequent news reports based on statements by BLM spokespersons then headlined a false positive result for America’s horses which effectively left the public in the dark. In May 2017 the BLM released their 2018 Budget proposing that they should be allowed to shoot & kill wild horses and burros and sell wild horses and burros for slaughter.

The public has been duped and we believe the public deserves to know that America's wild horses and burros are still under threat of the BLM.

In September 2016, Saving America's Horses published warnings for the public, "Don't be duped" by the misleading headlines and propaganda. America's horses are NOT out of danger.

Check out the flurry of misleading news articles go

The BLM's 2018 Budget completely contradicts their recent promise not to kill or sell healthy wild horses and burros for slaughter. Selling the animals ‘without limitation’ or under sale authority effectively strips their protection from abuse and slaughter. And since BLM fails to enforce its sale authority policy, countless wild horses and burros remain in danger.

America’s horses need stronger protection. They are NOT out of danger.
