  WILD HORSE AND BURRO PRESERVATION

WILD EQUINE INDIGENOUS HERITAGE PROJECT

WFLF'S commitment to WILD HORSE AND BURRO PRESERVATION: Central to our Mission is our commitment to help see that wild equines are able to remain in the wild. WFLF’s Wild Horse and Burro Conservation and Preservation program works to preserve and protect the lives of rare and historic wild equines as part of the natural ecosystem and educate people about the need for the preservation of these threatened equine species. WFLF accomplishes these objectives through 1) rescue, sanctuary and preservation services provided to at-risk wild equines who have lost their freedom, their families and their open range-land homes in the wild, 2) advocacy and education, and 3) developing/ promoting wild equine preserves. WFLF's preservation methods implement ethical and sustainable ecological values and healthy nonlethal conservation practices for the protection and preservation of threatened and endangered wild equines from extinction.

Fundamental to the core of Wild For Life Foundation’s wild equine rescue and sanctuary mission is our commitment to assure a forever safe haven home for each and every wild equine that comes through our doors. Through WFLF's Wild Horse sanctuary and preservation program victimized wild horses and burros receive the primary care they need including urgent veterinary medical care, nutritional food, any any needed farrier care and the assurance of a safe, peaceful habitat where they can live out their lives and never be at risk of round up or slaughter again. The Wild For Life Foundation Land Trust celebrates, protects and preserves wild animals and the environment by creating and promoting permanent sanctuaries, preserving and enhancing natural equine habitats.

Through WFLF's Wild Horse and Burro Preservation Program we have rescued, evacuated and facilitated Lifesaving Missionlifesaving services including the provision of primary care for approximately two hundred fifty slaughter bound Mustangs and Burros including pregnant and nursing wild equines, and orphan foals who had lost their freedom, their families and Native range-land homes. We accepted approximately fifty at-risk Mustangs into WFLF's wild horse multi-acre natural habitat recovery and rehab facilities, including malnourished and injured horses, pregnant and nursing mares, foals and rare conservation stallions, where they've been able to fully heal and recover. We've successfully facilitated the relocation and permanent placement of approximately one hundred and fifty wild horses in small groups and in family bands, into new forever homes, private sanctuary, natural habitat environments and rehabilitation programs. WFLF additionally provides ongoing care for approximately sixty five wild equines through its Sanctuary program.
