Where Horses and People are Partners in Healing
WFLF's Healing Hearts Program is an important component to our enrichment program which nurtures the mind, body and soul of each animal at our sanctuary.
Through this Community Enrichment Programming we save the lives of homeless, starved and slaughter bound horses whose healing hearts enhance the lives of people by imparting their new found compassion, patience and trust with people.
WFLF's Healing Hearts Program promotes equine assisted wellness activities including EAGALA which help warriors and horses from all walks of life to truly come home. WFLF Healing Hearts' Equines have helped community members across Southern California to learn and heal as partners in therapeutic partnerships, where a healing bond is developed through interactions with WFLF rescued horses.
WFLF promotes equine assisted learning and psychotherapy as it aligns with WFLF's vision for the people of the world to nurture, preserve and support a compassionate human-animal bond by giving back to the animals and the environment which all life depends.
Healing Hearts is an enrichment program under WFLF's Safe Haven Protection Program which provides safe and healing environments for incoming imperiled equines that need special time to recover and heal from emotional trauma and physical injuries sustained prior to their rescue. Sometimes animals come to the Sanctuary resentful and untrusting of humans due to a pre-existing history of abuse or violence. We strive to nurture the mind, body and soul of each animal using kindness to cultivate a trusting relationship with human(s), and overtime their attitudes and behaviors change. Through our Safe Haven Protection Program the health and overall condition of each rescued wild equine is closely monitored over time to assure that individuals and their family bands heal and adjust as needed. Our Emotional Enrichment Program for animals is based on respect, love and affection. We analyze each animal’s behavior and determine what techniques would best alleviate his/ her stress and/or agitation. Our Social Enrichment Program is based on the cultural and social needs of each animal in our Equine Rescue and Sanctuary Program . Each animal’s placement at the Sanctuary is carefully analyzed and monitored with great respect given to individual family and social bonds. Additional factors including individual age, gender, behavioral patterns and herd dynamics are closely monitored to foster a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling life for each animal at the Sanctuary.
The Wild for Life Foundation (WFLF) is a 501 (c)(3) volunteer based U.S. registered tax exempt nonprofit charity dedicated to elevating life and healing through the prevention of cruelty to animals.
