Wild for Life Foundation provides safe harbor and primary care to an average of 125 animals throughout the year. We primarily care for rare and wild Mustangs, domestic horses and wild burros. We also provide protection and care for a small number of farm animals and wild birds.
Animals under WFLF's sanctuary program are unreleasable due to physical disabilities or would have little chance of survival if they could be released. Animals under WFLF's rescue and rehabilitation program include those who have become candidates for adoption, foster or equine assisted learning and wellness activities. Prior to finding safe harbor at WFLF, these animals had been subjected to a variety of abusive, neglectful or life threatening situations.
Incoming equine refugees include wild horses and burros who’ve been victimized by government sanctioned roundups, stockpiled in holding or slated for barbaric slaughter. We care for every breed of victimized domestic horses that have been starved, mistreated, exploited or discarded from the equine community including former family pet ponies, former summer-camp horses, show horses, race horses, work horses and senior horses who for some reason or another did not live up to the needs or wants of their previous owners. We care for injured and abused farm animals that have been saved from life threatening situations.
